Business LLC Students Visit Three Local Businesses
Delmarva Live studio
One of the objectives of the Business Living-Learning Community (LLC) is to provide students with opportunities to interact with local and regional business leaders. To bring the Business LLC theme to life, Brad Gillis of Sperry Van Ness and Bill Burke, Business LLC Instructor, recently coordinated student visits to three local businesses.
On March 5, Business LLC students visited Peninsula Regional Medial Center for a presentation on the business (non-clinical) aspects of the managing a hospital. Representatives from areas including strategic planning, human resources, public relations and information technology spoke with students about business-related career opportunities in the health care field. The following week, students met with news teams at WBOC. While there, students had the opportunity to sit in the Outdoor Delaware and Delmarva Live studio and meet the news team and watch the 5 p.m. news live. On March 26, students had the opportunity to visit Pohanka Toyota for a tour of the facility, including a visit to the sales, parts and service areas. In addition, students were able to meet with the Sales Management Team to discuss sales marketing and the use of social media in the automotive industry.
All of these outings facilitate students’ learning and allow them the opportunity to meet with local businesses and better understand the opportunities that are available to them for internships and full time employment.
On April 27, Rommel Holdings and Ace Hardware hosts a Weber Grilling competition for the Business LLC students.
