Marketing Excellence Club Held Inaugural Speed Branding Event

On February 24, the Marketing Excellence Club held their inaugural Speed Branding event, which featured nearly 40 professionals critiquing student resumes and working on professional development. The evening started with three, extremely valuable workshop sessions for students.
The first speaker was Josian Colon of Target who led a personal branding session. Next was Bobby Audley, a local motivational speaker, who encouraged students to get out of their comfort zone. Lastly, Paula Morris led a workshop on how to professionally and effectively introduce yourself.
Benjamin Bouma, junior marketing major, commented on these workshops: “The three workshops were extremely insightful and helped me enter the speed branding portion of the night with confidence.”
During the next hour, students practiced their professional introduction or elevator pitch with the professionals. Each student had five minutes to professionally introduce themselves and chat with our guests. Then they moved on to say hello to the next guest in an effort to gain insight, improve their professional introduction and build confidence.
A networking session capped off the evening. Over cookies and coffee, students networked with professionals they met and greeted some they didn’t meet in the formal Speed Branding session. Many students have since reached out to these professionals and are working toward securing internships and jobs. Overall, the event was a smashing success for professionals and students alike. The club looks forward to hosting this event again next semester, so don’t miss out!
