And the MAXI Gold Goes To …
… Salisbury University of course!
Months of hard work have finally paid off for three Perdue School of Business students and one fantastic professor. Under the supervision of Paula Morris, a winning marketing campaign has been designed by Kiersten Durst, Natasha Cole and Courtney Mulcahy for the Direct Marketing Association of Washington’s Educational Foundation Spring 2013 MAXI Competition. The MAXI award, or the Marketing Award for eXcellence and Innovation, recognizes students who produce award-winning, results-oriented marketing campaigns for different sponsors located throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The competition is open to students attending universities in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware and the District of Columbia. All entries were judged at the end of the semester. The spring 2013 competition was sponsored by Boloco, a restaurant located in downtown Washington, D.C. that specializes in “globally inspired burritos.†The students were faced with the challenge of designing a direct marketing campaign to increase consumer loyalty and encourage new customers to come to the restaurant. The student’s campaign titled “Your World. Your Pick. Your Boloco.,†incorporates the use of direct mail, e-mail, social media and gamification to engage the consumer with the Boloco brand. Regarding the winning entry, Boloco commented:
"Their attention to detail, thorough plan, and especially their promotional work was really solid. We especially liked the "gamification" idea for our loyalty program, and are hoping to work that in to our next version...we think our guests would really like that! The project was very well proofed & compiled, which is obviously of huge importance to our team!â€
