D.C. Area FPA Scholarship
On November 15, Perdue School Dean Bob Wood met with three Perdue School of Business students to recognize them as recipients of scholarships from the Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area (D.C. Area FPA). Kyle M. Banks, Jeremy D. Reed and Joseph A. Payne received $600, $500 and $400, respectively. The awards were based on cumulative GPA to date, career objectives and extracurricular activities.
Howard Pressman, CFP®, of the National Capital Area FPA, informed Dr. Tylor Claggett in October of his organization’s desire to encourage students to pursue careers in financial planning. According to Pressman, awarding student scholarships to universities with outstanding financial planning programs is one of the best ways to accomplish that goal. Salisbury University was one of two universities within the Maryland/Virginia/D.C. area to receive scholarship funding.
