Student Business Leaders

Our Mission:

Create stronger connections between students and the Perdue School of Business by acting as a resource for the students, faculty and community.

Overview:

Successful leaders share similar skills and excellence in time management, interpersonal communication, organization, planning, networking, and research/resource gathering.  The Student Business Leaders at the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business are chosen because they exhibit such traits and successfully continue to develop them throughout their service to the school.

The students complete an intensive training program in which they learn about the pre-professional program, professional program, Gate admission, general education requirements and resources available to students.  Additionally, mandatory workshops are offered throughout the semesters to further educate the Student Business Leaders.

The roles of our Student Business Leaders vary.  They help freshmen students with their transition to college by being available to answer their questions and by preparing an informational Business Student Freshman Orientation.  This orientation includes information on the business school, understanding the degree progress report, group scheduling and general business student matters.

Our Leaders attend all Open Houses for current and future students, making a connection with the students as the school’s representatives.  They answer questions the students may have and speak about the Business School Experience. They also host events for transfer students.

They are expected to help students to better understand the business school academic process and requirements.  They refer students to other areas within the college that may assist them.  They make friendly contact with all students via email several times during the semester. They participate with community outreach by attending job fairs, community leadership events, etc. Additionally, they support our goal to connect with future PSB students by facilitating and hosting University tours for at-risk students from local middle schools.

Our SBLs represent the essence of the Perdue School of Business.
