A unit of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, BEACON offers business, community, economic, workforce and community development, consulting and assistance to a variety of organizations. Partners include businesses, government agencies and non-profit community-based groups.

BST (Bacterial Source Tracking) Laboratory |

SU’s Bacterial Source Tracking Laboratory works with the Maryland Department of the Environment to identify the probable sources of bacterial contamination in Maryland’s waterways using DNA fingerprinting and antibiotic resistance analysis.

The center seeks to assist public and private agencies, organizations and community groups with effective program planning, development and evaluation services. The center strives to enhance the quality of life for individuals, families and communities.

Center for Conflict Resolution |

The center’s mission is to foster peace building through the teaching and training of conflict analysis and resolution process skills. This requires the careful study of conflict process dynamics, introspection and practice that prepares an individual to effectively promote and foster nonviolent, collaborative and peaceful ways to resolve conflicts.

The cooperative provides mapping and GIS (geographic information systems) technical assistance to county and municipal governments on the Middle and Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Combining an expertise in business needs and environmental concerns, ShoreEnergy is an impartial clearinghouse for answers to local, regional and national energy-related questions. The organization encourages emerging energy-related research and educational activities and provides a public resource for energy questions and classroom materials. ShoreEnergy’s goal is to promote the use of state-of-the-art energy technologies while minimizing economic, social and environmental impact.
