Presidential Citizen Scholar
Program
This program offers juniors and seniors, from diverse majors and levels of experience,
the opportunity
to learn, by active participation in public forums
and classes, habits of good citizenship.
College Student Voting
Program
To engage our students about the
importance of voting, this program offers
student teams the opportunity to help the
students on our campus register to vote by sponsoring a Voter
Registration Drive every fall semester.
Public Policy Lectures and Election Forums
PACE sponsors lectures and forums during the academic year. Some
of these are open to the public and others are specifically for faculty,

American Democracy
Project
In Fall 2004, Salisbury
University joined the American Democracy Project.
(ADP), which is a cooperative initiative
linking 430 public colleges and universities around the nation that are
committed to advancing undergraduate civic engagement. ADP is sponsored
by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
Civic and Governmental Leadership
Academy
The
Civic and Government Leadership Academy (CGLA) is a non-partisan program whose mission is to inspire and encourage local
citizens from all segments of the population
to participate in civic affairs to facilitate positive change and
innovation in our community and to promote better government at the
local level.
Election Judge Program
PACE
assists local County Boards of Elections in their efforts to recruit
Election Judges.
Internships
PACE student internships with local
and state government, law firms,
and non-profit organizations are offered to SU
students to enrich their educational experiences.
John R. Hargreaves Distinguished
Legislative Fellow Program
This program honors a member of the Maryland
General Assembly for his or her outstanding
contributions to state government. SU students
meet with fellows to learn about the nature of representative democracy
directly from these legislators. Previous
Distinguished Legislative Fellows from
the
Maryland House of Delegates: Delegate Sheila
E. Hixson, Delegate Norman H. Conway, and Delegate
Howard P. Rawlings. From the Maryland State
Senate, previous fellows include: Senator J. Lowell Stoltzfus, Senator
Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., and Senator Brian E. Frosh. This year's
current recipient is Delegate Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the Maryland
House of Representatives.
Paul S. Sarbanes Lecture Series
Named in honor of Maryland's distinguished
senator, the Honorable Paul S. Sarbanes, who was born
and raised in Salisbury, The Paul S. Sarbanes Lecture Series
brings national political leaders to campus to
discuss current public policy issues. Previous speakers include: Senator
Paul S. Sarbanes, Congressman John Lewis, Senator Richard Lugar, House
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Senator Benjamin Cardin.
