Brigadier General Wayne Grigsby Speaks at SU ROTC Commissioning May 19

Brig. Gen. Wayne GrigsbySALISBURY, MD---Brigadier General Wayne Grigsby Jr., U.S. Army, speaks to graduating students in Salisbury University’s Reserve Officers Training Corps program on “Leadership” during a commissioning ceremony 6 p.m. Saturday, May 19, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Grigsby earned his B.A. in leisure studies from SU in 1984. He began his military career in Panama in 1985. He later commanded Company B, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was twice deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

He is currently director of the Army’s Mission Command Center of Excellence at Fort Leavenworth, KS. Before this assignment, he was the director of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), also at Fort Leavenworth.

Grigsby earned two master’s degrees: one in national security strategy from National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C., and a Master in Military Science at Fort Leavenworth. His military education also includes the Command and General Staff College and SAMS. He and his wife, Cynthia, have five children and one grandson.
