Tabla Master Sandip Burman Performs at SU September 13

SALISBURY, MD---The Washington Post has called Tabla player Sandip Burman “dazzling”. The renowned Indian percussionist performs at Salisbury University 7 p.m. Monday, September 13 in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Burman, a native of Durgapur, India, is a disciple of the late tabla master Pandit Shyamal Bose of Calcutta. Burman’s performances are marked with spontaneous innovation and tonal purity while delivering complex rhythmic patterns (tala) or melody (raga). He has played with Ravi Shankar and George Harrison, and collaborated with award-winning filmmaker Tim Burton and composer Danny Elfman for the score of the movie Mars Attacks!

Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU web site at www.salisbury.edu.
