U.S. News Ranks Salisbury State In  Top 10

SALISBURY, MD -- For the fourth consecutive year, Salisbury State University was ranked among the Top 10 public regional universities in the North region by U. S. News & World Report, the magazine announced today.

SSU was tied for eighth with Montclair State (NJ) University among public regional universities in the North. College of New Jersey once again took the top spot; Towson University was 10th. U. S. News rated Villanova University No. 1 among all regional universities, public and private, in the North.

Among the many indicators that U. S. News weighs in its calculations, most are quantifiable (SATs, retention rates, etc.). The most heavily weighted qualitative indicator, however, is a school’s reputation. That indicator is determined based on surveys of presidents, provosts and admissions deans at like institutions.

SSU’s reputation indicator went up for the fourth straight year, signaling the growing awareness among top academic administrators that Salisbury State University is becoming known as one of the best regional universities in the nation. As evidenced by the ever-increasing applicants for admission to SSU, that recognition of SSU as a top-flight regional university has long been recognized by college-bound students and their parents.
