Wellness @ SU Initiative Launches Oct. 24

Wellness @ SUSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University faculty and staff are invited to the launch of Wellness @ SU on Wednesday, October 24. Kickoff events are 3-5 p.m. in front of Maggs Physical Activities Center.

Inspired by President Janet Dudley-Eshbach’s campus consortium discussions, the program offers resources to encourage the SU community to adopt healthier lifestyles.

“The University is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment,” said Amy S. Hasson, Wellness Committee chair. “We encourage and support the physical, intellectual and emotional well-being of all.”

Activities include plyometrics on the lawn at 3:15 p.m., a yoga demonstration at 3:30 p.m. and a walk around campus led by Dudley-Eshbach at 4 p.m. Attendees also may visit wellness stations to sign up for fitness assessments, enjoy massages and learn about employee health benefits.

The first 100 participants receive a free T-shirt. Those who make a minimum donation of $5 to the Maryland Charities Campaign will be entered to win an iPad. One winner will be selected at the event, while other names will be kept for two additional iPad drawings in November and December. Other raffle prizes include yoga mats, gift cards, nutrition books and more.

Refreshments served include fruit, healthy snacks and water. The rain date is Friday, October 26. For more information, visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu/wellness.
