Volunteers Sought for 'Salty Ponies' Program

SALISBURY, MD---Recent Salisbury University graduate Katie (Butterworth) Holloway, is seeking volunteers from the SU community for a summer program involving the use of horses with children with disabilities.

As an experienced and certified instructor with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), Holloway has started “Salty Ponies,” an equine business featuring genuine Chincoteague ponies. Volunteers are needed this summer to work not only with the children while they are interacting with the horses but also for other non-equine activities.

Volunteers should be able to commit to several weeks of involvement. Students may obtain valuable experience related to a wide variety of careers and educational goals. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
Though the children being served this summer are being identified and coordinated through the Dove Point rehabilitation center, other recommendations are also welcome.
