Tickets Still Available for SU Chinese Cultural Immersion Day Sunday, October 2

Chinese Immersion Day Bus TripSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University hosts a Chinese Immersion Day bus trip to Washington, D.C., Sunday, October 2.

The bus departs SU’s Dogwood parking lot at 7:30 a.m. The tentative schedule includes a private tour of the chancery of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, a contemporary ceramic painting exhibit at the Meridian International Center, a performance and exhibition at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and dinner.

At the Kennedy Center, the Beijing People’s Art Theatre presents He Jiping’s Top Restaurant, chronicling the comedic ups and downs of a Peking roast duck restaurant over half a century. Founded in 1952, the Beijing People’s Art Theatre, is considered the nation’s premier professional theatre company. The play is presented in Chinese with English supertitles.

The exhibit “Landscape in Mind” is also presented at the Kennedy Center. Leading Chinese artists combine traditional and contemporary ideas on landscape in the context of public art. The exhibit and play are part of the Kennedy Center’s “China: The Art of a National” series.

The bus departs the center at 6:30 p.m., arriving in Salisbury at approximately 9:30 p.m. Participants should bring a bag lunch.

Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, tickets are $55 for SU students, $85 for faculty and staff, $110 for non-SU community members, available at the Information Desk of the Guerrieri University Center.
