Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

SALISBURY, MD --The Salisbury Junior Service League and Wicomico County Commission for Women, in conjunction with the Salisbury University Small Business Development Center, present the Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day Breakfast Symposium 7:30-9 a.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Bistro Room of SU's Commons.

Middle and high school-age children, their parents and other interested adults are invited to attend the symposium, where prominent working individuals from the local community discuss their occupations and what it takes to achieve.

Admission is $7.50 for pre-registered attendees, $8 at the door.

Kelly Rouse of Channel 47 News is the moderator. Featured speakers include Bonnie Walston, supervisor of special education for the Wicomico County Board of Education; Dr. Steve Fitz-Coy, a poultry pathologist, parasitologist and technical service representative from Schering-Plough Animal Health; Jamie Wallop, the recording artist and entertainer who wrote and produced "Quite Like You"; and Kathleen L. Beckstead, associate judge with the First Circuit Court of Maryland.

The Ms. Foundation for Women created Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day in 1993 as a way for adolescents to envision the possibilities for their futures and heighten their aspirations. The event traditionally is held the fourth Thursday in April.
