'Stash Your Trash' Make-a-Heron Workshops Set Nov. 8

Stash Your Trash graphicSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Environmental Studies Department holds two “Make-a-Heron” workshops this fall in connection with the heron sculpture contest hosted by the City of Salisbury and Wicomico County’s “Stash Your Trash” program.

Workshops are 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays, October 25 and November 8, at the Environmental Studies house on College Avenue. Those who RSVP by Friday, October 10, will be eligible to have a framework for the project constructed for them, upon request.

Through the contest, individuals are encouraged to create life-sized heron sculptures, representing the “Stash Your Trash” logo, out of recyclable and found objects. The public will vote on the winner during the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s monthly 3rd Friday celebration in downtown Salisbury beginning 5 p.m. November 21.

The winning sculpture will be awarded to the Salisbury business voted as the “greenest” and will be passed on every few months to promote the anti-litter campaign.
