Senior Art Exhibit April 29-May 16; Reception April 29

SALISBURY, MD---A reception to honor students' work featured in the 26th annual Senior Art Exhibit at Salisbury State University is on Saturday, April 29, from 7-9 p.m., in the University Gallery in SSU's Fulton Hall. The exhibit, free and open to the public, runs through May 16.

Works in two-dimensional studio art include drawings and paintings in pencil, pastel, charcoal, conte, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic and oil. Printmaking displays include lithography, etching, silkscreen and relief.

Students experienced in black and white, hand-colored and color-transfer photography display their works in the gallery along with three-dimensional creations that draw heavily from cast and blown glass, plaster, clay, wood, and found imaginative objects.

SSU students enroll in a core group of art courses plus an area of art concentration while working toward either a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

One aspect of this year's exhibit spotlights the graphics design/visual communications areas. Students of this discipline focus on designing and producing commercially oriented projects frequently used to promote products. These works are client-specific and showcase students' technical skills and computer mastery.

Other concentrations are arts administration, art education, and art history. Students who pursue these avenues are still required to study the core curriculum and participate in the exhibit.

Gallery hours for the Senior Art Exhibit are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; and weekends from noon-6 p.m.
