SU Theatre Workshop Presents 'Rent' Nov. 18-21

SALISBURY, MD---Jonathan Larson’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Rent comes to Salisbury University Thursday-Sunday, November 18-21, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
Part of SU’s Musical Theatre Workshop, curtain is 8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Based on Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème, the play tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
The production is co-directed by Dr. William Folger, SU director of choral studies. Dr. Darrell Mullins of the Communication Arts Department is stage director, and Leigh Usilton of the Music Department is choreographer.

The New York Times hails the Pulitzer Prize-winning play’s “glittering, inventive score.” The Los Angeles Times calls it “a ground-shaking rock musical.”
