SU Team Finishes in Top Four at Accounting Challenge

SALISBURY, MD---A team of accounting students from Salisbury University recently participated in the Goodman and Company Accounting Challenge.

The team of four—Julia Jendyk, Feltrin Davis, Laura Connors and Wade Adkins—won second place in the Final Challenge held Friday-Saturday, November 7-8, and ranked among the top four of 11 teams from colleges and universities in the Mid-East.

According to Dr. Kenneth Smith of the Accounting Department, who advises the SU team, "one of the Goodman partners told us it was an extremely close finish between SU and the winning team."

The competition, which provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate their accomplishments and network with accounting professionals, presents the teams with complex problems and issues faced by accounting firms. Criteria for top placement include efficiency in researching the problem and accuracy in solving it.

“I am glad to see that the University is so involved in getting these outstanding accounting students the recognition they deserve,” Melissa Ozmar, marketing associate for Goodman and Company, said of SU’s participation.
