SU Students Present Posters to General Assembly Feb. 23

SALISBURY, MD---Seven Salisbury University students will participate in the first poster presentations of student academic research for the Maryland General Assembly on Monday, February 23. The posters represent local research conducted by the students. Participating SU students are: Heidi Bishop presenting “Heightened Vanitas: The Connection Between Dutch 17th Century Vanitas and Modern 3-D Art.” Advisors: Sally Molenda and Ursula Ehrhardt T.J. Hood presenting “John Bell Hood and the Battle of Antietam.” Advisor: Dr. Creston Long Rebecca Lee presenting “A Survey of the Changing Frequency of Societal Perceptions of Date Rape” Advisor: Dr. Judith Pike Sarah Pitterle presenting “Incidence of On-Site Septic Systems in the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area.” Advisor: Dr. Michael Scott Mercedes Quesada-Embid presenting “Five Hundred Years on 40,000 Acres: Human Attitude and Land Use at Nassawango Creek.” Advisor: Dr. Michael Lewis Megan Rhodes and Paula Coulby presenting “Caroline County Family and Children Needs Assessment.” Advisors: Dr. Marvin Tossey and Dr. Deborah Mathews Julie Crew presenting “The Adoption of Genetically Engineered Crops by U.S. Farmers.” Advisor: Dr. Jill Caviglia-Harris The presentation is modeled after a similar event held annually by the National Science Foundation on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The General Assembly presentation in the Senate Office Building will give Maryland legislators an idea of the types of research being performed by the colleges and universities in the University System of Maryland.
