SU Social Work Delegation Attends Advocacy Day

SU Social Work Department

SALISBURY, MD---Nearly 100 students and faculty members from Salisbury University’s Social Work Department attended the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) – Maryland Chapter’s Student Advocacy Day in Annapolis in late February.

SU Students Joining in ChantsComprising the largest school group, they brought a whole-hearted passion for helping others, said Eileen Gilheany, who teaches in the department.

Those in attendance heard parents and children talk about their struggles living with mental illness and/or substance abuse, and gained awareness about the consequences of cutting services to this underserved population.

Advocating for those in need, the SU Social Work students joined in chants to “keep the doors open” for much-needed services.
