SU Sailing Team Wins Regatta Races, Places Fourth Overall

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Sailing Team, a member of the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA), recently competed in the 2003 Hanbury Regatta hosted by Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA.

Led by Janel Keener, Betsy Jackson, Kate Bassett and Dave Meredith, the team won first place in two of the individual races and placed fourth overall.

The team competes in a regatta, which is a series of races, every weekend of the school year and ranks among the best of all college sailing teams in the Mid-East. It races against national champions such as Princeton University, Georgetown University, and the U.S. Naval Academy.

The team heads to the Luce Regatta, hosted by Old Dominion University in Newport News, VA, on Saturday, November 1. It races for placement in a regatta called the WAR, which is one competition away from the Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s national championship.
