SU Presents 'The Vagina Monologues' March 3-5

SALISBURY, MD---The Vagina Monologues, performed Thursday-Saturday, March 3-5, at 8 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of Guerrieri University Center inaugurates Salisbury University’s celebration of Women’s History Month.

SU student Sarah Hund directs Eve Ensler’s play, which is based on over 200 interviews from diverse groups of women from around the world. Ensler explores violence against women, a taboo subject with hilarity and heartbreak.

Monologues, performed in over 40 countries and translated into some 35 languages is a daring and intricate balance of Ensler’s vision, compassion and brutally honesty exploration. “We need The Vagina Monologues because it breaks the silence on vital issues concerning gender, sexuality, relationships and identity,” said Dr. Chrys Egan, SU Communication and Theatre Arts faculty.

Proceeds benefit Salisbury’s Life Crisis Center, a non-profit agency for victims of abuse.

The performance is sponsored by the Women’s History Month Committee, SU Gender Studies Interest Group, Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology, Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, the Marilyn C.
