SU Presents 'The Vagina Monologues' February 22-24

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University presents The Vagina Monologues 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, February 22-24, in the Wicomico Room of Guerrieri University Center.

SU students Erika Mitry and Kim Lennon direct Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, which is based on over 200 interviews of diverse groups of women from around the world. Ensler explores violence against women, a taboo subject with hilarity and heartbreak.

The event is held in honor of V-Day, a global effort to raise awareness and funds to help stop violence against women and girls through performances of Monologues. “V-Day 2007 addresses the desire for peace—peace in our homes, in our streets and on our college campuses, especially during a time of war,” said Lennon. This year, the V-Day campaign at SU is one of 1,102 throughout the world.

Monologues, performed in over 40 countries and translated into some 35 languages, is a daring and intricate balance of Ensler’s vision, compassion and brutally honesty exploration.

Admission is $5. All proceeds benefit Salisbury’s Life Crisis Center, a non-profit agency for victims of abuse. Used cell phones are collected at door to be distributed to victims of abuse for use as 911 emergency phones.
