SU Presents 'Tartuffe' October 16-26

SALISBURY, MD---Religious hypocrisy, greed, seduction, scandal—if you think all this sounds like something from today’s headlines, you’re right. However, French dramatist Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere got there first.

Salisbury University presents the Moliere comedy Tartuffe Thursday-Sunday, October 16-19, and Thursday-Sunday, October 23-26, in Fulton Hall’s Black Box Theatre. Curtain is 8 p.m. for weekday and Saturday performances, 2 p.m. for Sunday performances October 19 and 26.

Directed by Dr. Paul Pfeiffer, the 17th century neoclassical comedy satirizes religious hypocrisy, blind trust and the stupidity of life without reason. With more money than sense, a man takes his household to near ruin until a surprise appearance brings about one of the most outlandish endings in the history of the stage.

The performance features junior Christopher Bramer as Tartuffe and junior Anne Crossman as Dorine, as well as SU students Christopher Wallace, Lindsey Porter, Katie Kaddell, Stephanie Hallgren, Patrick Herb, Eric Gemmer, Nick Kolesar and Jason Welsh. Gerald Patt Jr. is set designer and Jessica Fritz stage manages.

General admission is $10, $8 for children and seniors Wednesdays and Thursdays; $12, $10 for children and seniors for Friday and weekend performances. SU ID card holders are admitted free.
