SU Musical Theatre Ensemble presents 'I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change'

I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change PosterSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Musical Theatre Ensemble presents I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change from Thursday-Sunday, October 20-23, in the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall.

Directed by Dr. Darrell Mullins of the Communication Arts Department, with musical direction by Dr. William Folger, co-chair of the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, curtain is 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.

The musical comedy, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, is presented as a series of vignettes centering on love and relationships. Scenarios include a look at singlehood, first dates, breakups, meeting the parents, marriage, pregnancy and parenting.

The original New York production, which saw more than 5,000 performances from 1996-2008, holds the record as Off-Broadway’s second-longest running show. It was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical in 1997.

The New York Times called I Love You “timeless in its easygoing look at the American mating game and marriage.” “Laughs are doled out by the dozen,” said The Denver Post.

Sponsored by the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, admission is $12, $9 for seniors, students and SU alumni with ID. Tickets are available online at www.salisbury.edu/theatreanddance. Tickets also may be purchased through the SU Box Office, Fulton Hall Room 100. SU ID holders receive one ticket free for Thursday performances with advance reservations. The show is recommended for mature audiences.
