SU Dance Company Presents 16th Fall Showcase Nov. 9-12

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Dance Company hosts its 16th annual Fall Showcase 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, November 9-12, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. 

class=""MsoNormal"">This popular production features original choreography by Bob Fosse adapted and re-staged by guest artist Lynne Mariani, an “Irish Ship Jig” performed by students from Dancenter Salisbury and six premieres by Company members.

class=""MsoNormal"">Mariani began her professional career in Bob Fosse’s Dancin’, where she recreated the role of Ann Reinking and served as dance captain for Fosse.  Her credits include the European company of Cats and she currently teaches in the dance department of Wilkes University and co-directs Bravo! Dance in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

class=""MsoNormal"">An “Irish Slip Jig,” a basic Irish step dance performed in complex nine-eighths time, is staged by Karen Jernigan with a trio of young Salisbury dancers.

class=""MsoNormal"">Drummer Alan Krill and tap dancers create an explosive jam session in The Beat, a work conceived by junior Sara Greaver.

class=""MsoNormal"">Senior Fiona Green presents The Kit Kat Club, a modern, cabaret-style work that incorporates hip-hop and Fosse-style jazz dance.

class=""MsoNormal"">The music of Kelly Clarkson sets the stage for Addicted to You, a lyrical jazz dance with a sharp edge choreographed by junior Renee Hollingshead.

class=""MsoNormal"">The country vibe of Hoe Down, choreographed by junior Valerie Lunz, features southern-styled syncopated tap performed to the energetic sound of Ram Jam.

class=""MsoNormal"">Elaborate costumes and epic music enhance Creation, a choreographed work by senior Laura Plitt that is based on the Old Testament account from the Book of Genesis.

class=""MsoNormal"">Senior Rebecca Rowe dedicates The Dance to the memory of her father in a modern work set to the music of Garth Brooks and Eric Clapton.

class=""MsoNormal"">Admission for the one-hour performance is $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens, teens, and SU alumni.  Children under 12 and SU ID holders are admitted free.  Reservations are not required.  Tickets are available at the door 30 minutes before curtain.
