SU Celebrates Presidents Day with Presentation on FDR Thursday, February 12

President Franklin D. RooseveltSALISBURY, MD---Franklin D. Roosevelt was one of the most important historical figures of the 20th century — and the only U.S. president to be elected to the nation’s highest office four times.

Celebrating Presidents Day, Dr. Dean Kotlowski, Salisbury University professor of history, discusses Roosevelt’s longevity during the presentation “Political Virtuoso: How FDR Broke Precedent and Won a Third Term.” His talk is 7 p.m. Thursday, February 12, in Fulton Hall Room 111.

Kotlowski, a presidential scholar, became increasingly familiar Roosevelt’s political life while researching his book Paul V. McNutt and the Age of F.D.R., recently published by Indiana University Press.

The Fulbright Scholar and critically acclaimed author of Nixon's Civil Rights: Politics, Principle and Policy also is recognized as a leading Nixon researcher. In 2010, he received SU’s Distinguished Faculty Award.

Kotlowski has appeared on C-SPAN multiple times during panel discussions and lectures filmed at the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace at Yorba Linda, CA, as well as at SU. In addition, he has been interviewed by National Public Radio and U.S. News & World Report, among others.

Sponsored by SU’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE), admission to his talk is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
