SU Alumnus Named to Head Maryland Republican Party

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University alumnus Justin Ready is taking on a daunting task this election season, serving as the newly appointed executive director of the Maryland Republican Party.

“The level of interest for this position by well-qualified applicants is a positive indicator that the Maryland Republican Party is alive and continues to be relevant,” said Dr. Jim Pelura, chairman of the Maryland Republican Party. “Justin's background in management, political activism, and fundraising will be instrumental in continuing to move the Maryland Republican Party forward.”

The 26-year-oldReady said he was excited about his new role: “I think we have an opportunity to make progress throughout the state in building the party,” he told the Gazette newspapers.

Prior to his appointment as executive director, Ready was chief of staff for Maryland Senator Janet Greenip (R-33). He also served as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee’s Maryland director during the former governor’s presidential bid.

Ready earned his B.A. in political science from SU in 2004. While at Salisbury he worked with the Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE) as a telephone interviewer and Election Reflection panel participant. He continues his involvement with SU by meeting with PACE students during the University’s annual SU Day at the Legislature.
