Richard Johnson Attends National Conference: Conducts Yale University Concert Band

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Richard L. Johnson, associate professor of music and chair of the Department of Music at Salisbury State University, recently attended the College Band Directors National Association-Eastern Division Conference in New Haven, CT.

At the conference Johnson conducted the Yale University Concert Band in a session, "Hidden Treasures/Festival Favorites" featuring the wind-band music of Italian composer Amilcare Ponchielli. In addition, he served on a discussion panel for "Issues of the Small College Band."

This is the second time in four years that Johnson has been asked to serve on this panel group.

In spring 1999 Johnson was elected to his third two-year term beginning this past fall as Maryland state representative to the College Band Directors National Association.
