Registration Now Open For Eastern Shore Senior Games

SALISBURY, MD---Everyone grows old. Some just find different ways to enjoy it. With help from Salisbury University, seniors on the Delmarva Peninsula are celebrating their age during the fifth annual Eastern Shore Senior Games, scheduled Thursday-Saturday, April 22-24. Some 3,000 registration booklets are already in the mail for this year’s events. Participants compete in a variety of athletic activities, both individual and team. More than 400 senior athletes took part in 2003, and to date, registration is topping last year’s. Events include aquatics, archery, badminton, billiards, bowling, cycling, floor and foul basketball shooting, golf, handball, horseshoes, racquetball, softball throw, table tennis, tennis, and track and field. Team events include line dancing, softball and volleyball. A shotgun start kicks off the golf tournament at noon on Thursday, April 22, at Deer Run Golf Course and an opening reception for all participants is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, April 23, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. The games are open to men and women age 50 and over. The registration fee is $25 before Friday, March 26, $50 after on a space-available basis. Registration deadline is midnight Friday, March 26. Participation is open to residents of Maryland, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. A current Motor Vehicle Administration ID is required as proof of eligibility. Age for competition is determined by the participant’s age as of December 31, 2004.
