Provost Radio Interview to be Broadcast in Washington, D.C.

SALISBURY, MD---When Salisbury University Provost David Buchanan visited WPGC—one of the Washington area’s largest radio stations—for a news interview Thursday, March 4, he expected to promote SU to the station’s listeners. What he didn’t expect was to find one of Salisbury’s own employed at the station. SU alumna Cheryl Jackson (B.A., 1994), is now one of WPGC-AM’s morning show hosts. A former communication and theatre arts major, Jackson was impressed with strides SU has taken in that field, especially the recent plans for expansion of student radio station WSUR into a low-band FM format. After chatting with Jackson, Buchanan was able to help spread the word about SU’s programs on WPGC’s community affairs program, Community Focus, hosted by David Haines and Justine Love. The provost made the trip to Washington with SU student NAACP branch president Dale Graham. Buchanan’s interview may be heard in the Washington, D.C., area from 7-7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, on WPGC 1580 AM and Sunday, March 7, on WPGC 95.5 FM.
