Poet Hadaway Inaugurates Spring Writers-on-the-Shore Series February 15

Meredith Davies HadawaySALISBURY, MD---Poet Meredith Davies Hadaway reads from her works to inaugurate Salisbury University’s spring Writers-on-the-Shore series 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, in the Frederick Room of the Commons.

She is the author of two collections of poetry, The River is a Reason (2011) and Fishing Secrets of the Dead (2005). One of her poems recently was selected for honorable mention in the 2010 Robinson Jeffers Tor House Poetry Prize. Another is scheduled to appear in the forthcoming Best Millennium Writings Awards anthology.

Hadaway has received two Pushcart Prize nominations. In addition to publishing poetry in numerous literary journals, she is a frequent contributor of book reviews to Poetry International and serves as poetry editor for The Summerset Review.

The recipient of a Maryland Arts Council Individual Artist Award for poetry, as well as a fellowship from the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Hadaway is an avid musician who has combined poetry and Celtic harp in performances around the United States and Ireland.

Hadaway holds an M.F.A. in poetry from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She serves as chief marketing officer for Washington College in Chestertown, MD, where she also teaches as an adjunct instructor in English.
