PACE Co-Sponsors Public Hearings on Coastal Bays

SALISBURY, MD---The Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Salisbury University (PACE) holds four public forums through September to address the topic “Balancing Economic, Recreational and Resource Needs in Sensitive Areas of Maryland’s Coastal Bays.”

Forums are scheduled 7-9 p.m. at the following dates and locations:

* Wednesday, August 20 – Ocean Pines Library

* Thursday, September 11 – Ocean Pines Library

* Tuesday, September 16 – Worcester County Government Center in Snow Hill

* Thursday, September 25 – Ocean City Convention Center

Presented in collaboration with the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and Department of Natural Resources, the forums allow the Maryland Coastal Bays Aquatic Sensitive Areas Technical Management Team to discuss work that has been done in developing maps of the bays’ sensitive areas.

During the forums, the team solicits feedback from the public on how to best reduce the risk of impacts to sensitive areas, develop protective measures and educate residents, tourists and policy makers of local needs.
