Nursing Student Addresses Holistic Nursing"  

SALISBURY, MD---Jen Burkley, Salisbury State University nursing student, recently wrote a resolution for the National Student Nurses Association about the importance of administering care to the mind as well as the body.

As a nurse “one is going to assess everything and look at the entire patient,” Burkley said. “I think this is the basis of nursing.”

Her resolution, “In Support of Increased Awareness and Education of Holistic Nursing,” was recently adopted at the organization’s recent meeting in Nashville, TN. Some 10 SSU students also attended the meeting.

Burkley and other students attended various seminars related to current nursing issues and voted on new polices for the organization.
