New Music Salisbury Concert Scheduled November 5

music noteSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Music, Theatre and Dance Department faculty and students showcase new and experimental music during the concert “New Music Salisbury” 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 5, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Performers include Danielle Cumming, William Folger, Lee Knier, Patricia Rose, Eric Shuster, Jerry Tabor and the SU Percussion and Guitar ensembles.

Robert Baker conducts his 2012 work Blue Surface with the Guitar Ensemble, while Knier, on trombone, and Folger, on piano, perform Stjepan Sulek’s “Sonata (Vox Gabrieli)” for those instruments. The Ensemble for a Better America, comprised of faculty and students, premieres Tabor’s “Disambiguation” for brass, strings and percussion.

Cumming, director of the annual SU Guitar Festival, and Shuster, director of the Percussion Ensemble, perform Lou Harrison’s “Serenade for Guitar and Percussion.” The Percussion Ensemble is featured on Thierry De Mey’s “Musique de Table,” a musical dance for hands on a table, while Shuster, Rose and Percussion Ensemble member Becca Doughty premiere the new work “Two Pieces for Viola, Vibraphone and Piano” by Kyle Page.
