Mitchell Inaugurates Global Peacemaker Lecture Series April 19

Dr. Christopher MitchellSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution Department and Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts inaugurate the Global Peacemaker Lecture Series 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in Teacher Education and Technology Center Room 156.

As the series’ first speaker, Dr. Christopher Mitchell, former director of the George Mason University School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, discusses “Mediation in the 21st Century.”

A full-time faculty member at George Mason for 17 years, now professor emeritus, Mitchell, has held academic positions at London University, the University of Southampton and City University, London. He also has taught at the University of Southern California, Brigham Young University and the University of Maryland, College Park.

Mitchell has been involved in Track Two interventions that have attempted to address sources of and solutions for conflicts between Greek and Turkish Cypriots, Israelis and Palestinians, Somalis and Ethiopians, British and Argentinians, Nationalists and Unionists in Northern Ireland, Basques and Spaniards, and Moldovans and Trans-Dniestrians, as well as diverse Liberian factions.
