Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course is March 8-May 3

SALISBURY, MD---The Center for Professional Development at Salisbury University hosts an eight-week course in mindfulness-based stress reduction 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from March 8-May 3 (except March 22) in Nanticoke Room B of the Guerrieri University Center.

Taught by Larissa Kitenko, clinical pharmacist with Shore Health System in Easton, MD, the course also includes a day-long session from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 22.

“Mindfulness” means paying attention on purpose to what is happening at the moment and not getting lost in thoughts about the past or worries about the future. The course is tailored for people experiencing chronic pain or illness, stress, stomach or heart conditions, high blood pressure, fatigue, headaches, difficulty sleeping or anxiety.

The cost is $300, including materials. SU students and employees receive a 20 percent discount. Social workers are eligible for up to 27 continuing education units (CEU) with an additional fee of $25 for the CEU certificate, payable to the SU Social Work Department.
