Hyperion Ensemble Performs at SU Wednesday, February 2

SALISBURY, MD---One of the most talked-about chamber music groups in Europe, the Hyperion Ensemble, comes to Salisbury University Wednesday, February 2. It performs at 7 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

The acclaimed string sextet was founded in Salzburg, Austria, in 1996 and quickly gained popularity through a regular performance series in Austria and Germany. Specializing in works from High Baroque through the early 20th century, the ensemble began offering limited performances in the United States in 2003. Their SU concert precedes an engagement at the Library of Congress.

The group has earned praise throughout Europe. Kleine Zeitung calls Hyperion “An ensemble with the sound and color of the best orchestras.” Salzburger Volkszeitung says its music is “Expressive and explosive.”

Sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs and World Artists Experiences, Inc., admission is free and the public is invited. Tickets are not required.
