Guitar in the Gallery Series Presents Performance by Zane Forshee November 3

Zane ForsheeSALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Guitar in the Gallery series presents Zane Forshee 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, in the University Gallery of Fulton Hall.

Fingerstyle Guitar magazine has called Forshee “one of his generation’s finest guitarists.” The chamber and solo musician has performed at venues throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including the Library of Congress; New York City Classical Guitar Society; Joseph Joachim Konzertsaal in Berlin, Germany; and Chimei Museum in Taiwan.

With his first album, Initial, Forshee performed works from three contrasting composers: Baroque Italian harpsichord virtuoso Domenico Scarlatti, Cuban guitarist Leo Brouwer and 19th-century Spanish pianist Isaac Albéniz. The collection earned rave reviews from Classical Guitar magazine: “Forshee immediately establishes his credentials as an excellent player, with clarity, precision and an abundance of fine technique.”

Forshee holds a D.M.A. from Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Conservatory of Music. He chairs the Guitar and Harp Department of the Peabody Institute’s preparatory division; serves on faculty at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and is in residence at the Performing Arts Institute Summer Music Festival in Pennsylvania.

Admission to his performance is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-677-3269 or visit the Guitar in the Gallery website at www.salisbury.edu/musicdept/guitargallery.
