Great Leader Lecture March 27"

SALISBURY, MD---Eastern Shore native and winner of Maryland’s Master Entrepreneur Award Raymond C. Nichols speaks at Salisbury State University Tuesday, March 27, as part of the Great Leader Lecture Series.

Chairman and co-founder of BSC, Nichols will present his lecture “Profiting From Opportunity, An Entrepreneur's Perspective” in SSU’s Holloway Hall Auditorium at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited.

Nichols oversees one of the nation’s leading companies in comprehensive asset management and sales. It includes banking, other financial services and automotive services.

"Fundamentally, we are service providers who do what we say we will do," Nichols said.  "This reputation has always been the foundation of our growth."

Nichols completed the Retail Banking School Program at the University of Virginia, Commercial Banking School Program at the University of Oklahoma and following graduation from the University of Maryland, worked for a commercial bank in Baltimore where he managed a billion-dollar lending, credit card and leasing portfolio. Nichols left to join his wife, the late Elaine Nichols, in operating a group of businesses that she began.

The owner of various Eastern Shore properties including Ocean City’s Fishing Center and Shantytown Village, Nichols served with numerous groups including the Maryland Bankers’ Association Committee on Governmental Relations and as President Elect for the National Auto Auction Association, an international trade group with members from 18 countries. An active outdoorsman, he is involved with many conservation measures and is a member of the Ward Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The lecture series--inaugurated in 1987 and supported by an endowment from SSU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business--brings nationally acclaimed chairpersons, CEOs and presidents of major corporations to SSU to share their leadership experiences, visions of success and advice on qualities needed for leadership positions.
