Explore the Arts of Japan With Shizumi Tuesday, November 8"

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Eastern dance traditions come to Salisbury University during “Explore the Arts of Japan with Shizumi” 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

class=""MsoNormal"">Born in Hiroshima and raised in Osaka, Shizumi Shigeto Manale distills over 2,000 years of Japanese dance, theater, music and culture in her performance. Her programs incorporate ancient Noh and Kyogen theatre traditions. Her audiences experience the grace, strength and humor of traditional and modern Japanese theatre and learn about the cultural connections between Japan and China, Korea and India.   

class=""MsoNormal"">The program includes traditional and contemporary theatre and dance, fans, swordsmanship, calligraphy, the art of the Kimono, masks, Haiku poems and elements of a traditional tea ceremony.
