Evening of Estonian Arts at SU Monday, March 1

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University presents an evening of Estonian music and film at 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, in Caruthers Hall Auditorium.

Estonian singer-songwriter duo Bonzo and Toun perform for the first half hour, followed by a screening of the 2008 film December Heat.

Directed by Aslo Kase, this movie tells the story of an attempted communist coup in the Estonian capital of Tallinn in the 1920s and the events that ultimately allowed the nation to remain independent. Karl Altau of the Joint Baltic American Committee and Estonia Exchange Council introduce the film. Bonzo and Toun perform again during a post-screening reception.

Part of the Bridges to the World international film series presented by the SU Office of Cultural Affairs, World Artists Experiences, Inc., and Maryland’s Office of the Secretary of State International Division, admission is free and the public is invited.

Bonzo and Toun’s performance is co-sponsored by the Embassay of Estonia and World Artists Experiences, Inc. in honor of Estonia Day, celebrated that week. Information on Salisbury’s sister city in Estonia also will be available.
