Child Labor and Safety Laws Seminar May 24"  

SALISBURY, MD---A Child Labor and Safety Laws Seminar will be from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, at the Comfort Inn Gold Coast in Ocean City to assist business owners to comply with laws protecting minors in the workplace.

Business leaders will learn to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), by preparing teens to work safely at those jobs which are allowed, establishing and improving safety and health programs, overtime compensation and requirements and minimum wage issues including youth sub-minimum wage. The seminar also reviews record-keeping regulations for employed youth, rules governing tipped employees and the tip and food credit for employers.

The seminar is sponsored by the Maryland Small Business Development Center Network-Eastern Region, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and Salisbury State University.
