Brittingham Awarded U.S. Patent

SALISBURY, MD---John Brittingham, a 1994 graduate of Salisbury University’s Clinical/Medical Technology Program and resident of Salisbury, was recently one of the inventors awarded a U.S. patent for a novel method of topical delivery of vaccines after a three-year review.

Brittingham is a research associate of the advanced drug delivery group at Becton Dickinson Technologies, located at the company’s Research Triangle Park facility in North Carolina. He is also the designer, main operator and core facility manager for the flow cytometry lab at the Becton Dickinson facility.

He holds clinical laboratory certification with both the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the National Credentialing Agency. He credits much of his success to the clinical lab science education he received at SU, which has allowed him to proceed with very sophisticated science.

“Job opportunities in medical labs are abundant right now, but John’s career illustrates very well how the clinical lab science degree is a springboard for careers to many kinds of science and research that are both fascinating and rewarding. We are proud to proclaim John as one of our graduates,” said Johanna Laird, director of SU’s Clinical Laboratory Science program.
