Ben Folds Headlines SU Field Day at Perdue Stadium May 8

SALISBURY, MD---Singing sensation Ben Folds comes to Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Saturday, May 8, during Salisbury University’s annual Field Day. Folds became a household name in the alternative rock scene when he formed the Chapel Hill, NC, trio Ben Folds Five in 1993. Following a successful seven-year partnership, the trio disbanded in 2000 and Folds ventured out on his own. His first solo album, Rockin’ the Suburbs, found success with his long-time fans and gained him an even larger following. His latest album, Sunny 16, has found an equally enthusiastic audience that often likens his sound to such legendary pop keyboardists as Billy Joel. “Folds demonstrates exceptional skill in marrying wryly observational lyrics to upbeat piano-driven craziness,” says Q Magazine. Joining Folds at this year’s festival are rock groups Pretty Girls Make Graves, Downtown Singapore, The Grilled Lincolns and Written Prisms along with the winner of this year’s SU Battle of the Bands. Tickets are available starting Saturday, April 3, at the Information Desk of the Guerrieri Information Center and Perdue Stadium. Cost is $20, $5 for SU ID holders (limit one ticket per ID). The Student Organization for Activities Planning and WSUR, SU’s student radio station, sponsor the event. For more information call 410-543-6006 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
