SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Lower Shore Child Care Resource Center (LSCCRC), in partnership with the Judy Center of Worcester and Wicomico County, hosts its 6th Annual Early Childhood Conference on Saturday, April 5.

Featuring award-winning singer, songwriter and author Jim Gill, the conference is 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Chef Fred's in Salisbury.  “It will be an interactive day of building literacy through music and play,” said Karen Goldman, LSCCRC director. “Parents, teachers, caregivers and other early childhood professionals are invited to attend.”

A child development specialist who earned a graduate degree from the Erikson Institute of Chicago, Gill is the author of May There Always Be Sunshine. A picture book based on a song he has sung with tens of thousands of children, it won the 2002 Book Award from the Philadelphia Children’s Museum.

The conference is $40 in advance or $45 at the door. To register, call the LSCCRC at 410-543-6650.

In addition, Gill performs a free concert for young children 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Parkside High School.

"This is a great opportunity to take part in an early childhood program right in our local community,” Goldman said.  “Come out and learn to sing and play with the whole family!  It will be a fun night.”

The concert is free.  Tickets are required and may be obtained by calling the LSCCRC at 410-543-6650.
