Alexandria KleztetHighlights Eastern European Dinner

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Exotic foods combine with Jewish party music for a unique experience as Salisbury University hosts an eastern European dinner with a performance by the Alexandria Kleztet 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, in the Bistro Dining Room of the Commons.

class=""MsoNormal"">Founded in 1998, the Kleztet has performed Klezmer music throughout the Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., areas. The Washington Area Music Association named the band’s first album, Y2Klezmer, the best world music recording of 2000. Its second album, Delusions of Klezmer, repeated the feat in 2002.

class=""MsoNormal"">Klezmer is a 500-year-old Jewish tradition reminiscent of Balkan, Greek and Gypsy music. While the Kleztet updates the music with a sound it calls “alternate Klezmer,” the songs retain much of their tradition. Cost of the meal is $8.95 per adult, $5.50 per child 12 and under. Children 5 and under dine free. The public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6271 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu. "
