Art Culture Nature Presentation, "Artists on the Rhone," December 1

SALISBURY, MD--Art Culture Nature, an association for the study of the arts and the environment, invites the public to a video presentation of a pilot project, "Artists on the Rhone," on Tuesday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Caruthers Hall Auditorium at Salisbury State University.

Created by Dr. Andrew Hepburn in the SSU Department of Communication Arts, the video offers a brief view of selected artists (including Cezanne and Van Gogh) who have lived and worked in various parts of the Rhone Watershed which extends from the Swiss Alps to the Mediterranean in the south of France. It also provides a brief environmental profile of the Rhone watershed from the relatively pristine headwaters to the environmentally degraded industrial area known as ˝Chemical Alleyţ and the 22 dams along the lower Rhone.

The project is part of the work of Art Culture Nature, a new association which seeks to integrate the study of the arts and the environment at all levels of education. Salisbury State is the founding sponsor of ACN.

A discussion will follow the viewing, moderated by Dr. Ellen Lawler, SSU associate professor of biological sciences and president of Art Culture Nature. The video presentation is free and open to the public.

For more information call Lawler at 410-543-6496.
