"Virtual Reality" On Display November 3-December 18 University Gallery

SALISBURY, MD--An exhibition showcasing Maryland artists working with digital media opens Tuesday, November 3, at Salisbury State University. State of the Arts: Digital Media Art From Maryland is on display at the University Gallery in Fulton Hall through December 18.

This multi-site exhibition has been curated by David Yager, executive director of the Fine Arts Gallery at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Coordination was by the Fine Arts Gallery in collaboration with the Center for Renaissance and Baroque Studies at the University of Maryland College Park. This initiative has been organized in conjunction with the conference "State of the Arts: Production, Reception and Teaching in the Digital World" and Maryland First Lady Frances Glendening's statewide Celebration of the Arts.

The Fine Arts Gallery has scheduled this exhibition to continue through fall 1999. Coordination of the SSU site was initiated and directed by Marie Cavallaro of the SSU Art Department. Other sites will include Howard County Center for the Arts, University of Baltimore, Baltimore-Washington International Airport and Frostburg State University.

The exhibition is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, and funds from Salisbury State's Fulton School of Liberal Arts, Provost Office and University Galleries. The exhibit is sponsored by the SSU art faculty.

An opening night reception will be held Friday, November 6, from 6-8 p.m. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon-4 p.m.
