"SSU's Pi Gamma Mu Chapter Receives Award"
SALISBURY, MD----Maryland Gamma, Salisbury State University’s chapter of Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society of the social sciences, has received the Roll of Distinction Award.
The Roll of Distinction is granted by the Pi Gamma Mu board of trustees to the top international chapters on the basis of their service to their campuses and the communities. Maryland Gamma received the award primarily due to the overwhelming amount of aid it gave to the Hurricane Floyd Flood Relief Effort begun on the SSU campus, coupled with other service activities. This is the second consecutive year that the chapter has received this award, and a total of four top coveted awards in four consecutive years.
Dr. Clara L. Small, professor of history in the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts, chancellor of the northeastern region of Pi Gamma Mu and a member of the board of trustees, conveyed the news to the chapter upon her return from the board meeting held at Roanoke, VA. Small is co-advisor of the chapter with Sylvia Bradley and Dr. Bart Talbert.
